How To Reach:

By Train – The nearest railway station to Nainital is Kathgodam, located about 35 km from here. Kathgodam Railway Station has good connectivity to major cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Howrah and has daily trains to Delhi. Some of the trains that operate from Kathgodam station include Ranikhet Express, Uttar Sampark, Kranti Express, Bagh Express, Dehradun Kathgodam Express, and AVT KGM Shatabdi Express. There is a taxi stand in front of Kathgodam railway station from where you can book any cab. Here is the schedule of some of the daily and week-long trains:-

  • Dehradun Kathgodam Express – This train (14120) departs from Dehradun (DDN) at 8:30 AM and reaches 11:30 AM by traveling a distance of 335 kms with 11 stops.
  • Kgm Shatabdi Special – This train (02040) runs daily between Delhi to Kathgodam. It departs at 8:00 AM in the morning and reaches 11:30 AM. It covers a distance of 281 kms in 8 stops.
  • HWH KGM Special – This train (03019) departs from Kolkata/Howrah Junction at 9 AM, reaches Kathgodam at 9 AM, travels about 34 hours, and arrives at Kathgodam at 8 AM and is 1514 kms with 59 stops determining the distance.
  • MMCT KGM Special – It reaches Kathgodam from Mathura via Moradabad-Rampur.

By Road – Nainital has good road connectivity. Kathgodam and Haldwani are the two main bus stations located near Naini Tal. The bus station has direct buses from metro cities, including Delhi & Lucknow, and other major cities like Dehradun and Haridwar. Cabs & rickshaws are the options to travel further from the bus station to Naini Tal.

By Air – Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport to Nainital, located about 60 to 65 km from here. Taxis are readily available from Pantnagar airport to Naini Tal, and you can take a cab to reach here.
